The name though implies a visit to Lake but in
actual there is no lake, but only a dry lake
basin that seems that the lake did exit here.
But in absence of lake is sufficiently
compensated by the splendid view around. Just a
few meters the huge mass of Kanchenjunnga &
Simvo tower above. Zemu glacier at the foot of
Kanchenjunga is full of sea moraines, rock and
boulders. Once a while a roar of avalanches fill
the emptiness. A trek starts from Lachen of
North Sikkim famous of it varieties of flowering
vegetations & home of blue sheep. This is not an
ordinary trek and it goes through a wild forest,
trails are slushy – sometimes even a foot deep,
grueling walk on a boulders terrain & moraines.
Special permit is required – that takes 3 month
for clearance. |
